Android 4.4 kitkat has launched on September 3, 2013. Kitkat was initially named as “Key Lime Pie” and later it was changed to kitkat because very few people know the taste of key lime pie. KitKat debuted on Google's Nexus 5 and was optimized to run on a greater range of devices than earlier Android versions, having 512 MB of RAM as a recommended minimum; those improvements were known as "Project Svelte" internally at Google.
